Dionysus

Nature god of winemaking and wine,  god of the grape-harvest, of fertility, ritual madness, ecstasy, and theatre in ancient Greek religion and myth.

Dionysus was the son of Zeus and the princess Semele of Thebes. During the course of her pregnancy, the god's jealous wife Hera tricked Semele into asking Zeus to appear before her in his full glory. Bound by oath, the god was forced to comply and she was consumed by the heat of his lightning-bolts. Zeus recovered their unborn child from her body, sewed him up in his own thigh, and carried him to term.

Dionysus symbolized chaos and the unexpected, and he represented the wilder people on the margins of society.  His focus on dance, drinking, and music made him the lord of parties and helped free his followers from self-consciousness.

Dionysus is a teal and purple variegated yarn with teal and purple speckles.

Care of your hand knit garments

Please hand wash cold or lukewarm water and lay flat to dry. Even though this yarn does contain superwash merino, I do always recommend that you hand wash your knitwear. We use colorfast acid dyes for dying our yarn, and rinse until water runs clear. There may be a chance that some dye may bleed slightly in the first wash of your finished item. This does sometimes happen for speckled yarn and stubborn colors that are prone to bleed. For the first couple of washes, hand wash separately to be sure that no further bleeding.

There are no dye lots. We always try to sell from same dye lots but if not sure, we recommend blending the skeins as you work. Color saturation can differ from different dyelots.
