Athena
Athena was the goddess of wisdom, combat, and victory.
According to most myths, Zeus and Metis conceived a child together, but a prophecy indicated that this child would prove more wise and powerful than Zeus so Zeus decided to solve this problem by swallowing mother and child. A few months later Zeus had a terrible headache so Hephaestus chopped into his head with an axe. Athena sprung out fully formed and armed to the teeth.
Athena wasn’t bloodthirsty or violent in war. She was a strategist who preferred to use wisdom to end conflict She was also like Artemis and Hestia, a virgin goddess who enforced the rules of sexual modesty.
Athena had a sacred bird, an owl which was often shown perched on her hand or shoulder.
Athena is a speckled base of reds, pinks and yellow on a white base.

Care of your hand knit garments
Please hand wash cold or lukewarm water and lay flat to dry. Even though this yarn does contain superwash merino, I do always recommend that you hand wash your knitwear. We use colorfast acid dyes for dying our yarn, and rinse until water runs clear. There may be a chance that some dye may bleed slightly in the first wash of your finished item. This does sometimes happen for speckled yarn and stubborn colors that are prone to bleed. For the first couple of washes, hand wash separately to be sure that no further bleeding.
There are no dye lots. We always try to sell from same dye lots but if not sure, we recommend blending the skeins as you work. Color saturation can differ from different dyelots.
